ETHEL MARY DRABING

August 24, 1937 – April 14, 2026

With great sorrow, we announce the passing of Ethel Mary Drabing, at the age of 88. Ethel will be deeply missed by her loving husband, Mark Drabing of 22 years, who cared for her in their home during her final months.

Predeceased by her parents, John and Gabrielle Tunney, sister Audrey Landygo, and brother Brian Tunney. She will be lovingly remembered by her sisters Eileen Saric and Lynn Herrick. She held special bonds with her cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.

Predeceased by her first husband, Chuck Pound, she will be forever and deeply missed by her children - Cindy Pound, Natalie Pound, Susan Stefanishyn (Allan), and Charles Pound (Christine). Ethel cherished her time with her six grandchildren - Cheryl, Chauna, Christopher, Jaden, James, and Alyssa, as well as her five great-grandchildren - Connor, MacKenzie, Taylor, Hudson, and Colton.

Mom always looked forward to spending summers at Betula Lake with the Pound family. Years later, she helped build a cottage at Sandy Bay with her second husband, Dennis Willson. Her favorite place to travel was Maui. Mom was a great cook and an avid reader. She enjoyed playing scrabble and dominoes, doing puzzles, crafting and outdoor activities with the grandchildren, and spending time with her cats. Mom loved a wide range of music, from K.D. Lang to Pavarotti, Bryan Adams to Leonard Cohen.

After raising her children, Ethel entered the work force and went on to hold positions of management at Ben Moss Jewelers, Zellers, Den for Men and United Cigar Stores in Western Canada. A back injury forced her into early retirement, and despite the years of chronic pain, Mom’s physical and spiritual strength helped her to live the life she desired.

In accordance with Ethel’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A private family gathering will take place at a later date. The family wishes to thank the Grace Hospital staff for providing care and compassion to Mom during her final days.
